VOTED TOP TEN COMEDY ACT OF 2011 *

“The Funny Ones” is the latest live comedy offering from husband and wife team, Jenny Parsons & Steve Morel.

The show takes you through a taster test of comedy duos throughout the ages from Burns & Allen to Lucy & Ricky right up into the twenty first century’s Bush & Palin. “The Funny Ones” is also an umbrella, a catch all – a farm combine, if you will. It harvests the best bits from this and that over the two decades that Jenny and Steve have been creating crops of silliness together.

Steve’s Canadian cocktails: a musical concoction of famous Canadaina singers singing other singer’s songs – show off his musical sophistication.  Sure Steve is “suave” (Vit Wagner, The Star) but Jenny can match him anyday with her lack of such stuff: “Jenny Parsons is unsurprisingly fearless” (JA. EYE Weekly). Jenny peforms magic throughout the show with a daring that would make most trained magicians sweat – “bring it on”, she says dryly. Together, they perform sketches like Abbott and Costello’s “Who’s on First”  routine but performed as the stars from “Silence of the Lambs”. They title this (soon to be classic) piece: ”Who did you eat first?”  And they sing songs, good and funny! They sing covers from the novelity vaudevillian band “The Hoosier Hotshots”;  up-do Fred Eaglesmith’s “Big Hair” with a back-hoe comb and then, there’s a bunch of original comic songs too – but you haven’t heard of them – yet!

The show runs up to ninety minutes, up to two acts, behind two mics with some audience interaction. They will travel lightly, heavy on the fun, to most places and events: theatres; music festivals; fundraisers; weddings and corporate functions. A technical rider and digital press packages are available upon request. Autographs free.
